Yamaha Branded Deus Ex Machina Motorcycle Exoskeleton On Video, Looks Tron-esque. Art Center Pasadena student Jake Loniak has taken everything that is cool about exoskeletons and motorcycles and crammed it into this Yamaha-branded Deus Ex Machina concept motorcycle. The vehicle is powered by ultra-capacitors and doped nano-phoshpate batteries (similar to the ones currently used in hybrid cars) and it is controlled using 36 pneumatic muscles with two linear actuators set along a spine consisting of seven artificial vertebrae. Even the helmet is pneumatically attached.

the rider should be behind it not in front of it!
Wow, even less protection for the driver than a motorcycle. It looks like the engine uses the occupant as an airbag to protect itself from oncoming objects. Self preservation… hey maybe it is a “smart” machine.
all they need now is a coloured wall to follow behind and theres the beginning of tron lol
hahahaha head first into a mac truck, nice
They showed this in Popular Science magazine a while back. They really are developing one (not Yamaha, a bunch of engineers in their spare time) for sport racing purposes. They doubt it would ever be street legal, as cool as it would be to just ride up behind somebody and watch their reaction in their rear view mirror.
damn looks scary but i would love to try it
Deus Ex Machina means ‘god from the machine’. It is a literary plot device generaly frowned on as it’s frequently botched. Try looking it up if you didn’t learn about this in grade 6.
This is actually a concept vehicle with design concepts based in existing technology. I would personally like to see more. Before you guys knock it out of ignorance, try actually doing more than my 30 seconds of research. Also it was clarified that it’s not Deus brand in the title ‘YAMAHA BRANDED…’.
the dick who made the vid put deus on the title so people look at it. anyone into deus or classic bikes would laugh at this rubbishhhhhhhhhhh….
this is not a Deus bike!!!
not a motorcycle its a trike
and this is for….? -.-
I go through cars everyday in nyc & did it for 25 years…only hit car`s mirror twice..
Cars should be on the lookout constantly
as they do in Europe or asia…
I love technology and science,,,but damn that is the ultimate brain bucket
The Motorbike Exoskeleton is just an idea a guy came up with. This video is made entirely on computer as a simulation of what it would look like in motion. It’s a really cool idea although if it was built it’s claimed to only reach 75 miles per hour but still, class designs
TRON!
whats wrong with you
this is great , what a rush it would be
nice i like that…..but i think the knee cannot hold long and the body needs a reflex so it can be easy to see at night i forget where is the light?
