Yamaha Branded Deus Ex Machina Motorcycle Exoskeleton On Video, Looks Tron-esque. Art Center Pasadena student Jake Loniak has taken everything that is cool about exoskeletons and motorcycles and crammed it into this Yamaha-branded Deus Ex Machina concept motorcycle. The vehicle is powered by ultra-capacitors and doped nano-phoshpate batteries (similar to the ones currently used in hybrid cars) and it is controlled using 36 pneumatic muscles with two linear actuators set along a spine consisting of seven artificial vertebrae. Even the helmet is pneumatically attached.

the rider should be behind it not in front of it!

Wow, even less protection for the driver than a motorcycle. It looks like the engine uses the occupant as an airbag to protect itself from oncoming objects. Self preservation… hey maybe it is a “smart” machine.

They showed this in Popular Science magazine a while back. They really are developing one (not Yamaha, a bunch of engineers in their spare time) for sport racing purposes. They doubt it would ever be street legal, as cool as it would be to just ride up behind somebody and watch their reaction in their rear view mirror.

Deus Ex Machina means ‘god from the machine’. It is a literary plot device generaly frowned on as it’s frequently botched. Try looking it up if you didn’t learn about this in grade 6.
This is actually a concept vehicle with design concepts based in existing technology. I would personally like to see more. Before you guys knock it out of ignorance, try actually doing more than my 30 seconds of research. Also it was clarified that it’s not Deus brand in the title ‘YAMAHA BRANDED…’.

I go through cars everyday in nyc & did it for 25 years…only hit car`s mirror twice..
Cars should be on the lookout constantly
as they do in Europe or asia…

The Motorbike Exoskeleton is just an idea a guy came up with. This video is made entirely on computer as a simulation of what it would look like in motion. It’s a really cool idea although if it was built it’s claimed to only reach 75 miles per hour but still, class designs
