The ten and 2 position on the wheel, that is another example of some people trying to conjure some reasoning about testing that is immaterial. Stick to the facts and be objective. Do they exhibit control of the bike or are they reckless, that should be all that matters. Police and their rules are sometimes over the top and unnecessary. And there is not universal application of said rules

of course you put your feet when you have to. i was just saying that the instructors what to see this, its like the 10 to 2 hand postion on the steering wheel who real does that after their test (very few!). when i done my test thats what my instructor told me, nothing to do with injuries. i put my feet down and push all the time when parking my bike (especially when two up) and never have had an injury doing it!
and i meant to the instructor it shows fear and lack of confidence.

watch my video of me rolling on the throttle mind you I was holding the camera with my left , I’m not scared of these bikes. It’s just made up bullshit. Sure it shows balance but it is unnecessary, doesn’t matter in the real world, you put your foot down if you need to.

it might be true about the injury thing but i think the main porpuse for keeping your feet on the pegs at all times (unless stopped, naturally) is to show that your in control of the bike. its almost like riding with your fingers over the brake, it shows that your scared and not confident in your abilities.

    that is my point

  6. redhot916spd on June 27th, 2009 5:37 pm

good, less me ask your opinion then, in all of your riding expreience has putting your feet down in a low speed situation caused you injury or harm?. I honestly don’t care about rassmith78’s opinion, I checked his page and most of the comments he gets are cursed insults, hahaaaaa.

719 lbs, minus the police gear. Once it starts to go over it’d be hard to stop.

in reply to rassmith78 If these bike did weigh over 800 lbs, which they don’t it seems like it would be more dangerous to not put your foot down and then fall over than to keep yourself upright by putting your foot out

i would of liked to see the top end of those bikes.

The so called experts that are teaching these courses made this stuff up. Just like speeding kills, it is about money, they don’t give a damn about any of us. It’s not the officers fault obviously it’s the dumb ass rules, we are not allowed to use common sense. And put rules in place to keep darwin from doing his work

When I took my state test for my motorcycle license they had this deal the slower you went the better your score and if you took your feet off the pegs and put your feet down it went against you. I did fine and aced it, but seriously who gives a shit if you need to put your feet down for balance, It is the real world

It’s a simulation of going around traffic… if there are cars in the way, you have to get around them at slow speeds, as fast as possible and without damaging anything.
Slow speed control is very valuable to a motorcycle rider.
A police man on a motorcycle can filter through traffic a lot faster than a car.

nice riding very good its amazing how they lean the bike so much a slow spped

  17. Atoweha on June 27th, 2009 5:37 pm

its great to see them training to grab bad people without getting off the bike. thats what eatting too much doughnuts do to you.

My motorcycle instructor rode a Honda ST1300. He made it look as easy as these guys, even with a pillion on board!

    where’s the burnout?

  21. rassmith78 on June 27th, 2009 5:37 pm

Give me a break dude….I’d comment but it doesn’t matter…you have 36 yrs of experience so you know it all.

  22. redhot916spd on June 27th, 2009 5:37 pm

you must be a hwy patrol officer and full of shit ,and yourself. I have 36 years of bike riding experience and find your comment ridiculous. While riding at hwy speeds you would be correct, at lowers speeds it is far from the truth.

  23. rassmith78 on June 27th, 2009 5:37 pm

Wow you hurt my feelings. Why don’t you do me a favor and attend a police motorcycle training course. All of the training that is taught, you never put your foot down. It is discouraged because of injuries that are sustained as a result. These are not dirt bikes these bikes weigh 800 lbs plus

  24. nick4634 on June 27th, 2009 5:37 pm

lol you’re a fucking retard thats not true at all. you hold your foot out and “tap” the ground to keep your self upright and how will you get seriously injured going less than 5 mph

  25. rassmith78 on June 27th, 2009 5:37 pm

Putting your foot down while your bike in motion will more than likely end in serious injury…that’s why.
