I grew up in a rough house with bikers. I was taught life lessons from guys named “Frenchy and One Eyed Jack.” They fought but not about what each other road. (Usually about girls, booze, or drugs LOL) Triumph, BMW, Harley were the norm.
If I could afford a Harley, I know I would have purchased one. If it would have made me an arrogant jerk who downs others rides…then I would have to pass. Ride on ride Safe

My first bike was a Rebel 250 because it was all my dishwashing tail could afford. Owned a Yamaha Virago, no probs. Now I own a 1700 Midnight silverado, no probs except bolts coming undone from vibration. I always wonder if I would enjoy a Road King. (maybe one day) until then I ride my YamahaHog with pride. The point is the ride. My friends ride Harleys (dyna Low and FatBoy) but they are often having to repair something. Although I dont think it is leaks.

Bud, look at my screen name, my JOB title is in it. I’ll come out and say it for you, I’m an EMT. My job is to save people, what do you do?

Fake Harley’s suck. Only Geek wannabe’s ride them. Commonly referred to as Penis Envy

To compare the Royal Star to the Road King is laughable. It is like comparing a V Star to a Sportster. The Yamaha is a fine bike and I have owned some as well as Harley’s but they are definitely imitation Harley’s. Get a real Harley unless you want a Yamaha to go along with your genuine Japanese Movement Rolex. Harley’s hold their values when the Yamaha drops like a rock into the abyss after purchase.

I couldn’t quite make it through the video. The guy’s voice had my head on the keyboard 20 secs in. Are they serious with this narration? Motorcycle reviews should be fun, guys. This sounded like a NASA space toilet instruction video. Actually that would be cool, I wonder if there are any of those on youtube…

    they are both great bikes.

  9. nolobede on June 23rd, 2009 11:04 pm

They didn’t compare RK to RS on purpose. Road Star wins on every level.

  10. bige3360 on June 23rd, 2009 11:04 pm

I think you compared the bikes tastefully, but when it comes down to it, as long as people are out there riding on what THEY like. That is what it is all about. Peace

  11. MyAmbitionIsSmall on June 23rd, 2009 11:04 pm

Is that a surprise? They’re both exceptionally boring bikes.

  12. crockagater on June 23rd, 2009 11:04 pm

those two arent even in the same class. this is stupid, they should have compared the rk to the road star.

    Amen brother!!

  14. outlawracer2229 on June 23rd, 2009 11:04 pm

A Raider isn’t a touring bike. But I gotta agree, there fast as hell!

Listen to it. The Yamaha beat the Harley. More power (beat it on the dyno), better handling, better saddlebags, removable windscreen and back rest (without having to pay extra as you do with Harley). Face it, Harley had it’s day. It’s time for them to wake up and start pricing there bikes and parts in the realistic range. You can wave the American flag all day, (I am a veteran of the US Army) but Harley is no more American made anymore than the Yamaha or any other brand. Look at the packaging!!!

Many components such as brakes, forks, shocks, carburetors, electrics and wheels were outsourced from foreign manufacturers and quality increased, technical improvements were made, and buyers slowly returned. To remain profitable Harley continues to increase the amount of overseas-made parts it uses, while being careful not to harm its valuable “American Made” image. “

  21. tonycoelho on June 23rd, 2009 11:04 pm

Ya just like all domestic cars drop in value while the BMW and Mercedes Be z hold their value. Based on your logic then all American cars are copy cats because the Germans made the first car. Didn’t Harley go cry to the ITC about import bikes?

  22. DennisFranz on June 23rd, 2009 11:04 pm

So obvious you have a Harley Road King. Nice bike. Still sorry about your having to make up for your other loss.

  23. DennisFranz on June 23rd, 2009 11:04 pm

So buy a Ford truck vs a Tundra simply because it is a imitation? C’mon. A vehicle designed for a style and purpose can be compared w/o having to pocket it as ‘imitation’ and having that bias prior to review or even reading one.

    Good Review Motousa!

  25. EviLNiXXXoN on June 23rd, 2009 11:04 pm

Why would you say that? I drive a 1700 Yamahog. You look like an average guy. You dont look like some wanted dead or alive hardcore biker. I enjoy my bike and honestly, I am an electronic Geek (maybe) but I don’t suffer from any type of envy. Matter of fact, I am a quite large, ugly ass biker. Most people shy away before they know me. I do not want to be like you. Especially if it means being condesending. Ride Safe Ride Hard
